Is it wise to go to Italy during Christmas?
Christmas falls on a Thursday this year.I am planning a trip to Italy then.Start off with Florence on 25th and 26th then take a train down to Rome for the weekend.Do you think it will work? Will most of the shops/attractions/restaurants be closed during that period?

- You might find annoying the fact that on the 25 and the 26 ( S. Stefano )everything will be closed....But if you leave the USA on the 26 and arrive in Italy on 12/27 you'll be fine.
- on 24 everything is open for the last presents, you'll have problem only on 25,and on 26 you can visit museums, and the city in genral, because shops are closed
- almost everything will be closed on the 25th and 26th. Some stuff maybe open on the 26th in tourist spots but I've lived in itlay long enough and my family tried this last year and it didnt work out well. After the 26th you should be fine though.
- Absolutely!!! I think a lot of big big shops are opened
