I live near montréal and am looking for a cheap/free way to get to texas for christmas?
The title pretty much says it all. I'd like to surprise a very special lady at christmas but am unable to fund the trip. Any hints, tips, help would be appreciated
The town in texas is tyler 100 miles east of dallas and about the same distance from shreveport louisianna

- Ok - not a lot of options and being under the 14 day rule makes airlines expensive - I found a 158Cdn$ each way flight on AirCanda flying out on Christmas Eve and back on Monday the 31st of December. This is going to Dallas (as you did not specify where in Texas and that's a BIG state).
Greyhound bus will take 1.5 days each way and runs $201 each direction.
Amtrak is $66 each way to NYC from Montreal. But the trains from NYC to Dallas are $300+ each way.
Priceline which offers good last minute pricing doesn't work in Canada. If you can get over to Burlington VT you could try using that service to book a more affordable flight. There was a $400 USD flight from Burlington to Dallas. Which would drop it down more since the Candian dollar is worth more.
